Sesame Street kicked it back in the day...

Check it.

Go ahead and try to tell me that isn't smooth.

Yeah, suckas.

Now check this.

(yeah, I'm reposting something that's been BoingBoing'd -- so sue me...)

I dig the little kid rockin' out at the railing.

Fishing

Dave and Dad came down for the weekend, and we got out fishing both Saturday and Sunday.  The weather was absolutely gorgeous.

We were on the lake just a bit after 6 on Saturday, and headed out to where Dad had heard the fish were biting.  We've got all kinds of navigational aids and whatnot, but when you haven't been on the lake in a while, it's hard to know exactly which buoy someone might be describing, so we pretty much guessed, and then proceeded to make our way to where most of the boats were, thinking perhaps we'll move into the fish.  Unfortunately, we never found a good school of walleye, and based on the radio, pretty much no one did.  Eventually we worked our way back to where we started, and tried some different lured, and we got two keepers near an area where someone had told Dad to try.  We figured we'd try there on Sunday and gave up around 3 PM.  After we fried up the fish we caught (mmmm, fresh-caught fried walleye cheeks) and the boys were in bed, Dad collapsed, and Dave and I didn't do much better, but we ended up staying up until about 12:30 (had to get a game of Links in on the XBox).

Sunday, we got up a few minutes later (4:45, instead of 4:20), but were still on the lake by about 6:30, and went straight to our targeted area.  I think we had our first walleye by about 7:15 or so, and we ended up getting 11 (we missed one that may have been a walleye), and we threw back a LOT of sheepshead (freshwater drum) and a couple of white bass.  Overall, it was a pretty fun day.  We left the water around 2, I think.

I grabbed 3 of the 11 fish, and Dad and Dave hit the road for GR.  I cleaned up my fish, and threw 'em in the freezer (in milk -- something suggested by my neighbors, as her dad does that with success -- we'll see how it turns out).  I finally took a shower, ran to the store, and made up dinner.  After dinner and cleanup, I helped the boys with bedtime, and then went out to relax in the hammock (around 7:05 PM, I'd say).

I fell asleep in the hammock at about 7:15.  Luckily, I took the hint and went to bed pretty early, so I wasn't too ruined today...

Thinking about some fishin'

I have been pretty busy with work stuff of late, but this weekend, Dave and Dad are coming to visit and we're going to hit Lake Erie for some Walleye action.  Right now the weather forecast is perfect, and I am really looking forward to getting out on the lake.  The last few years, my fishing time has been severely limited (with good reason, I suppose).

If I remember to find everything, I'll take the camera and post some photos...

Outlook 2007 Annoyance

Here's an interesting one:

I usually have a dual monitor setup on my desk, and I often have my Outlook client running maximized on one, (which is where I do most of my work), while I generally use the other for opening programs, and or as my workspace -- for instance, when typing an email, it is often in the second (smaller) monitor.

Since I usually have a browser open (our helpdesk software is web-based, as is the product I have responsibility for), it is often on the same monitor as the email client.  Today, I am noticing that every 20-30 seconds, Outlook makes itself the topmost window in the z-order, regardless of what I am doing.  Literally, as I am clicking something in the browser, focus changes to Outlook and the click registers in the Outlook window.  Incredibly annoying.  I sure hope they fix that...

Outlook 2007 as an RSS aggregator

I've installed the Office 2007 Beta 2, and so far, I like it a lot.  Outlook 2007 seems really nice.  I had been saying for a while that I though outlook should include aggregation functionality -- one-stop shopping for all of my incoming communication.  Well, they've added it.

When I first imported the OPML that I exported from SharpReader, I was disappointed to see the folder structure did not get imported.  I have about 50 feeds I read regularly, so I need some kind of structure.

The second thing I noticed was that when I create a structure, it is alphabetized -- whether I like it or not.  This is actually pretty common but it drives me nuts -- I want things in a contextual and prioritized order, not in the arbitrary order of the first letter in the title of the feed (or folder!).  Inevitably, this is going to force me to name my folders with a precedence number or letter -- "1.  Technical Feeds" which makes everything even uglier.  (This already always made me crazy in outlook -- I don't want "Deleted Items" at the top of my folder structure, and definitely not before "Inbox")

The third thing, and I am hoping this was a goofup, was that every post in all of the feed folders was downloaded about 6 times.  So I just went through and deleted all entries, and we'll see how often things are duplicated.

I'm not ready to uninstall sharpreader yet, as it looks like Outlook has some growing to do, but I am glad to see this natural extension of the product coming to fruition.  After I've used it for a few days I'll report on it...

USA! USA!

Just one hour until the United States joins the fray of World Cup 2006.  If you're not already planning to be in front of a TV or listening on a radio, try to change your plans!  This will be a pretty telling game for the US, given that the Czech Republic is currently #2 in the FIFA world rankings.

I better work for a few minutes so I can go watch it...

It just gives you warm fuzzies...

I know a lot of people think Rocket's return is a publicity stunt or a last gasp, but when you read something like this, it isn't such a stretch to think maybe he just really loves baseball and the people in and around baseball.  I wish there was more of this in professional sports, and less of the news about players busted for having 289 pounds of marijuana, beating their wives, shooting their chauffers, bitching about contracts, and overall being big self-centered babies.  You play a game for a living.  Take two seconds to realize what that means...

Nothing to post about

This post is about absolutely nothing.

We went to GR over the weekend to see Michelle and John's new little boy -- Elias Charles Bunton.  He's a brute of a baby (10lbs 5oz at birth), but a cutie still.  He even cries like a brute (he's got a big ol' man-voice).  He'll fit right in with John and Noah.

Today, I went in early, came home late, kissed the boys goodnight, went for a run, held Emma while she screamed so Jodi could go for a run, watched Butterfly Effect on Encore, and now I am going to sleep.  Weee.

See I told you this post was about nothing...
