Script control of virtual server VMs
If you use virtual server at all, and have a need to control your VM states on a schedule or based on events, you'll find these script references handy.  We are trying to make better use of VM Images for tasks like builds and other repeatable events (verification test beds, etc), and being able to start and stop the VMs on a schedule makes life much simpler...
Pirates

I don't have anything to post except to share this picture:

Two boys, a box, a paper-towel tube, and a rag == Pirate Ship and crew.

unPost

I have been really bad about posting anything lately, I know.

We got Dad out on the pier last Tuesday, and he seemed to really enjoy it.  Apparently he has been in a bit of a funk since then (hopefully not because of it), but the therapists told Mom that is normal when a stroke victim has a period of dramatic improvement.

RIP Cory Lidle
This is a very decent article about Cory Lidle.  I can't imagine what his family must be going through...

Catching up...

The last few weeks have gone by very quickly, and I have been pretty delinquent in posting.  I've made a post or two to my forums, but as you can see, the blog has been pretty quiet.

Dad is doing somewhat better, on a couple of counts.  First his attitude/demeanor is getting a lot better.  Michelle has been keeping the family updated, and it sounds like he is starting to get a little drive back and his sort of depressed funk is going away.  That's not to say he is chipper all the time, but he seems more responsive and a little more driven to work hard to get better, and that is good.  He got his beard shaved and a haircut, and apparently is starting to move around quite a bit more.  I haven't gotten a chance to visit him in a couple of weeks, so I am feeling pretty out of the loop, but I hope to change that this week.  Dave convinced Dad's therapy crew to take a road trip to the lakeshore to get Dad out for some steelheading.  Anyone who knows DaveO (or me or SuperDave) at all knows we're just a little bit off the deep end when it comes to our love of fishing.  It all starts with Dad, so this is an opportunity for us to get him out and maybe show him how much all of his time spent fishing with us means to us, and how much we want him to still be able to enjoy it.  It is probably going to be just a therapeutic for us as him, but I am really excited about it (as Dave has said he is).  Keep your fingers crossed for cooperative weather -- I really think this is a healthy thing for all involved, and I'm hoping we can make it happen.

On other fronts, I've spent a few weeks getting ready for a test lab for work, and have spent this week at the lab, meaning I haven't seen my kids in 5 days (grumble, grumble, grumble), but I got to see some people I worked with years ago, who have moved on to bigger and better things.  That was really fun.  If you are a lurker on this blog, and used to work with me and are curious about who I am referring to, drop a line to me at 'chris' at this domain, and I'll fill you in.  So this week hasn't been all work and no play (definitely mostly work, but we had a little time to socialize).  As cool as it has been to play with big hardware and see some old comrades, I look forward to getting home and seeing Jodes and the kids tomorrow.  I am such a homer...
