I travel a little here and there for work, but not too much. In all the trips I have taken, only twice have I flown to and from somewhere within a 24-hour period (Detroit to White Plains, NY and back in a day, and Detroit to Laguardia driving just into Connecticut and back). The trip I am currently on will span just more than 24 hours, but with the advent of e-ticketing, we did something I've never done before. Tonight, when we landed in Atlanta, we went to the e-ticket machine at the ticketing counter to check-in for our return flight tomorrow. It seemed a little wierd...
I am sitting at my desk having one of those 'I kinda hate my job right now' moments. At least it is late enough that I can crank some music up loud and not have to worry about offending any coworkers.
While I am whining, I am hungry, too. Anyone feel like bringing me some food
? (I can't stomach any more vending machine junk food which I shouldn't be eating in the first place).
It's International Talk Like a Pirate Day, and I nearly forgot!
Ye scurvy dogs best be talkin' like pirates, or it's off the plank and inta Davey Jones' locker!
(thanks for reminding me, Jeff)
If you are a college football fan and happen to pull for a Big Ten team, I am sure you've heard of the flap between Comcast and the Big Ten network over carrying the fledgling network's programming. Unfortunately, for fans in southeast Michigan, Comcast is our cable provider. This week the Spartans take on Bowling Green (who trounced Minnesota last weekend, so they likely will put up more of a fight than UAB did last week), and the game is only on TV on the BTN. Yesterday, DiSH Network announced they will carry the network, but only with the primary regional game (unlike DirecTV who carries all games). Comcast is still playing hardball, and us fans get the shaft. In the past, less interesting games would be picked up by ESPN+ and would be shown on the PBS station, WKBD50, or channel 7. This year, I'll be listening on the radio. Seems like a step backward to me, but then I am only interested in my own viewing possibilities. You people who have a line of sight to the satellites and can get Satellite TV, well, you're hooked up...
On the way to the office this morning, I dropped Josh off for his first day of Kindergarten. He was very excited, and not at all apprehensive (somewhat to my surprise). He led me all the way to his classroom and went right in. Mrs. M introduced herself to me, and Joshua was off and running before I could say goodbye. I think he's going to adjust to school just fine. I can't believe I have a child in school -- I'm like a grown-up now!?!
