Back to reality, unfortunately...

Well, having had the last week and a half off work, today I am dealing with the reality that I have to return to the grind tomorrow.

I spent a few days in the UP with Matt hunting at the Sand Ridge deer camp (one 6-point taken, no one else saw anything with antlers big enough to shoot), then spent a few days in GR hanging out with Dad, and getting him out fishing.  We didn't get any fish, but DaveO seemed to really enjoy getting out on the piers, so that was kinda cool.  Finally, returned home and made a turkey for Thanksgiving, enjoying the day with the family.  Friday I brewed a batch of pale ale (first batch since 2003!!!) which is fermenting (albeit slowly) in the basement right now.  Yesterday, I did a little cleanup and did some yardwork and today I can barely stand upright between being sore and having a wicked head-cold.  Maybe going back to work won't be suck a bad thing... Surprise

The best award ever...

This year in our fun little golf league, my partner and I snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory with me shooting a 5-over par on the final hole to lose the hole by a stroke, the match by a hole, and the league by a single point.  Needless to say, the other team was happy, and I was, well, a bit cranky about it.  When the league 'president' asked what I wanted as prizes (I also got second place in individual points) I snarkily responded that I'd just take a box of Pro-V1s or a gift card or something.  I didn't want a trophy or plaque or anything since I already had a runner-up mug from years ago, and "second place is for bitches" (those were my words).

Today, I got my prize...

Touche, Dave.  Nicely done...

A loss for Milan

No, I am not referring to the football team, I am referring to the fact that the only real restaurant in town has closed its doors.  I'll be the first to admit that many people who live in Milan don't seem to be restaurant frequenters (at least not anything nicer than BigBoy or the Campfire -- blech!), but I am really bummed that Main Street is closing.  The staff were great, the owners I knew were great, the atmosphere was great, and the food was the best offered in town.  Not to mention the fact that some other dads and myself met there for drinks occasionally and appreciated the nice (read: not dive bar) atmosphere.  The restaurant is for sale, hopefully someone will purchase it and reopen it, but it is a shame the original owners could not make it work.
