Comcast DVR Problems
I think we are nearly at the end of the line when it comes to Comcast. Between not getting the Big Ten Network and the ridiculously expensive monthly bill, I am already very annoyed with the 'package.' Lately, though, another issue has been almost enough to make me spit nails. Oh sure, we run into the same problems as everyone else -- key queueing, recorded shows chopped into two or three parts, unbelievable delays when the box reboots, and complete inability to watch HD on Demand just about every time we try. But I can live with all of that -- IF the box would stop deleting all of our recorded programs. It happens to lots of people, but apparently Comcast can't figure out how to fix it.
Basically, about once every 6-8 weeks, Jodi will call me at work and say 'it did it again.' And I have to search around on the internet trying to find out if anyone has found a way to get the recorded shows back. I know it is possible, because at one point, I got someone on the phone who sent a signal and our shows were restored, but every time I call now, I get no help at all, and all our recorded shows are lost. We generally have 50 series recordings set, so re-entering them is a pain in the ass, and in the meantime, we've lost 15-20 hours of programming that we had hoped to watch. Kind of a pisser.
So, for any of you out there in the same boat with us (can't get Dish or DirecTV because of foliage, and FiOS not yet available in your area), here is a link that may or may not help you.

Unfortunately, doing the authorize and full reset doesn't restore the lost programs on my DCT 6416, so unless someone knows of something that can be done, I think I will exchange it tomorrow... Comcast... it's craptastic.
